A Great Night for Great Conversations

Yesterday night was an inspirational night full of dialogue and interesting speakers with diverse topics. It was good to see familiar faces from industry night to speakers night and of course meeting new people. A special shout out to the great speakers that night: Ryan Mah, Valerie Casselton and Dean Lee. It was a great selection for our panel because each speaker had their own take and thoughts about the future of print. Ryan Mah took us back to the days of raw materials used for print such as metal and iron cast templates and Valerie took us into the newsroom of the Vancouver Sun, she used to be a reporter now she is the executive editor there and Dean Lee who was a graduate from Kwantlen is now the DDB creative director. It was great to know more about the careers and how they got there and what the future of print means to them. I'm excited to see Ryan's documentary: From Lead to Gold about Jim Rimmer and I am excited to see what the future would be for print and if print would take a different level from where it is now. Also, a special thanks to all my awesome instructors who have been with me for 4 years instructing and mentoring me. I wouldn't be the person I am today and I would like to thank all of them for their continuous support and their generosity. Thanks to Dale Simonson, Erin Ashenhurst, Cameron Cavers, Brian Charles, Bob Crockett, Pamela Ip, Rick Cuff, Marge Damon, Ken Hughes, Keith Martin, Marcela Noriega, Cory Ripley and our dean, Barbara Duggan. It was a great last year, and tonight would be our last grad show day for our family and friends to enjoy our show at the HSBC Pendulum Gallery come out and celebrate the works of the grads of 2011!
