Bikram Hot Yoga

So this month I decided to try hot yoga for the very first time. I did a trial class for $20.00 in Richmond just to make sure I can handle the heat while doing poses and I was fine. So I decided to upgrade to a monthly pass of $39.00. I am in my 5th class of yoga and it feels great. I’m trying to stretch the muscles I don’t usually stretch on a regular basis and I’m trying to live a heathier lifestyle. The heat can sometimes fluctuate from class to class but overall I feel better and my body is accepting the heat. My favorite instructor so far is Victoria. She is very helpful by going around to each student making sure they are doing the right poses. I wish I was in her class all time but different days and times have different instructors and it really depends on my schedule to see which time best fits my schedule for drop ins. I usually go Friday, Saturday and Sundays. And hopefully I will make it to 14 classes. Overall, I great experience for beginners looking for another alternative for getting more fit besides going to the gym. My goal is to master all the poses through the month trial.

Tojo's

Happy 6th Anniversary to me and my hunny! On Tuesday December 1st he took me out for dinner at Tojo’s to celebrate our anniversary. He surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and we headed straight to Broadway for our meal. We partook of the Omakase experience, which was basically the chef choices of the day prepared in 6 courses. We first partook of the Tojo’s Tuna Chef’s Signature Dish which consisted of tuna sashimi with special sesame and wasabi sauce on top of local wild albacore tuna with ponzu sauce.

We then had the tempura which was west coast dungeness crab leg, okra, and yam.
For the sushi selection we had the Hamachi yellow tail, sardine topped with ginger and green onion, tai red snapper, we had a piece of the pacific northwest which consisted of Dungeness crab with avocado, scallop and fish roe on top, The Golden which consisted of crab, scallop, wild pacific salmon, sweet shrimp rolled in an egg crepe with fish roe on top, we had a piece of sushi which was rolled in a cucumber roll with deep fried tuna, yam with asparagus inside.

Overall, the meal was ok. It wasn’t spectacular or anything. I think we just enjoyed too much food elsewhere. So we had a lot of experiences to compare to. I enjoyed the rest of the night just me and him cuddling and spending time together, embracing our moment and reminiscing of how long it’s been. Played some monopoly and sent him home to rest for the rest of the work week.

Na Thi & Michael's Special Day

On November 21, 2015 was my dearest friend, Na Thi’s wedding day. I was honored to be her bridesmaid for this special day.

I started the day waking up at 3:30am to get showered, changed, packed and ready to head out at 4:45am to Na Thi’s parents place. Phuong my best friend picked me up around 5am that morning to get our hair and makeup done. Na Thi flew in her photographer and 2 makeup/hair/custom artists from the company from LA to create a Cambodian wedding. Na Thi’s father was Cambodian and Na Thi’s mother was Vietnamese.

The two artists were working on Lynna (bridesmaid) and her sister: Phung (maid of honor). We quickly undressed ourselves and got into our Kimonos that Na Thi had purchased for all of us.
I had to wait for my turn so I decided to steam iron her dress and help her out with the wedding favors.

Once makeup and hair was done we had to get dressed into our Cambodian outfits which consisted of 6 outfit changes throughout the day/night. Our first outfit consisted of a beige lace wrap on the top and a beautiful patterned pink cloth wrap on the bottom. Our hair were curled and put onto the side.
At this time we were behind scheduled about 30-1hr behind. So we had to cancel the door activities (groom getting the bride). The groom came in to worship the ancestors and then we all headed to the hall for the rest of the ceremonies.

Thank goodness the hall was close. From the restaurant (where volunteers had to carry 27 plates of food to represent long and prosperous life). The volunteers had to march from the restaurant to the hall which was only a 5 min walk. Everything was close from Na Thi’s restaurant to her parents’ house to the hall.

The weather was cold but it was sunny which was good. We headed to the hall to prepare for the ceremony. The ceremony consisted of a priest who conducted the whole meeting, hair cutting ceremony, ribbon tying, monk chants etc. Overall a wonderful cultural experience. I loved every outfit I changed into and I was happy to see everyone who came out to support Na Thi and her husband, Michael.

Afterwards we headed to Queen Elizabeth Park to do some photos. It was extremely cold during this time which was around 4-5pm. The sun was about to set but we were able to catch some sunlight before the sun went down.

After the photos were down we headed to Sun Sui Wah for the dinner. We helped out with the flower décor and got dressed for the next event. We walked in with the rest of the bridal party and we got introduced to the guests. The food was great and the waiters and waitresses gave us their complete attention and service. Overall, I had a great meal. Speeches followed, kisses happened.

The night was still young so afterwards we had some dancing and music to enjoy for the rest of the evening. Tommy her brother did a wonderful job of djing that night. Overall I had a wonderful time, experience and I am so lucky to have such a wonderful friend in my life. I am so happy for her and I fell completely in love with Michael’s family. They were so warm and loving and kind to each and every one of us. I wish Na Thi and Michael a wonderful life together filled with joy and happiness.

DOOMS

October 31, 2015

This Halloween, me and bf decided to head to Dooms at the PNE. Tickets were approx. $140.00 each. The DJ’s playing that night were: Daijo, Goshfather & Jinco, Kshmr, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W, Frontliner. The rave was from 7pm-1am. It was a fun event. We enjoyed it. I dressed up as Nariko from Heavenly Sword, BF was Hard Gay from Japan and we also went with a friend of ours, George who dressed up as a caveman. There was a much larger group then the one from New Year’s last year. Most of the people there were dressed up. It was a cold night but thank goodness the rain stopped. Or else my wig and my sword would have been drenched. My wig didn’t stay on the whole night so I had to put it aside. Overall a fun time. My favorite dj’s playing that night was Kshmr who is a ghost producer has finally played in Canada for his very first time. He is from California and his videography was awesome. The best Halloween set. From the video to his music it all fitted very well with the holiday spirit. The next runner up was Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Their music was great all head bangers of course but I wish they involved the audience more like the sets they played elsewhere around the world. But overall a fun filled night full of dancing, laughter and music.
