Savio Volpe

Bf was craving pasta since it was the weekend and he's on paleo and weekend is usually his cheat day I decided to go to a new restaurant close to home. Located on Kingsway just down Fraser is a newly opened restaurant. With a limited menu selection this place focuses on fresh local ingredients as well as imported ingredients from Italy. They make their pasta in house and most of the meats and ingredients are ordered from Italy direct. We had the rigatoni, beef braciola, pork riblet, meatball with sunday sauce to share and the tortelli, greens & ricotta, crispy sage pasta. For side we ordered the potatoes, prosciutto, salumi, rosemary and the prosciutto di parma, mustard greens, grana. This is a pricey place to be but you will definitely be full. For just the two of us the bill was about $100 plus tip. Overall, a great place..next time we will do the chef's special meal where the chef serves up meals created for the season with the freshest ingredients available at that time.

Botanist

Past Sunday me and the girls got together to have brunch at a restaurant inside the Fairmont Hotel downtown on waterfront. This place was very modern, very chic and instagram worthy. I ordered a virgin ceaser...very salty not much flavour and definitely not worth the high price tag. Next I ordered the crab and avocado benedict. This dish had delicate flavours, slight tang from the hollandaise sauce which I like. The english muffin was a little too soggy for my liking. The potatoes on the side was bland and not crunchy as it should be. We shared the pancakes which I ended up not eating cause I was quite full. Overall, an alright meal but not worth the high price tag. My bill came up to be $50.00 tax included.
